Autumn canopy patchwork floodplain misty dawn Cordoba
by Sara Burks
Wet leaves spread across the floodplain in a mosaic of rust, ochre, and deep green, their surfaces slick with recent rain. A thin layer of mist hovers just above the canopy, softening the edges where trees cluster along the river's bend. The first light of dawn breaks through the overcast sky, casting a cool, diffused glow that reflects off the standing water between branches. Droplets rest on the tips of twigs, catching the pale morning light without dripping. The ground below remains hidden beneath the dense overhead cover, creating a textured ceiling of decaying foliage. The scene extends far into the distance, where the mist merges with the gray horizon, blurring the line between the wet forest floor and the cloudy sky. One branch juts out from the left, its bark dark and glistening against the muted background.
