Rows of metal folding chairs line the concrete floor of a Divo courthouse corridor, occupied by community members facing forward. Cool blue twilight from the open door at the far end washes the space in a uniform, dim glow, against the harsh, flat white of overhead fluorescent tubes. Shadows stretch long and soft against the textured walls where the artificial light fails to reach. The wet season is visible in the damp sheen on the floor near the entrance and the heavy, dark clouds silhouetted against the distant sky. Attendees sit in quiet rows, their postures upright and focused, creating layers of depth that recede toward the bright, open threshold. at the edge is a single water stain spreading across the linoleum near the first chair leg.
