Deep indigo shadows pool beneath the arched walkway of a Chefchaouen riad while tables stand ready for morning service. Blue painted walls reflect the pale, metallic glow of a winter sky, creating a cool, monochromatic ambiance despite the late summer season. Rain streaks vertically down the clear glass panels separating the courtyard from the interior, blurring the distant fountain into a soft, silver smear. Woven rugs in warm ochre and terracotta lie untouched on the stone floor, their fringes resting against the cool, damp masonry. Metal tea sets gleam with a cold sheen on white cloths, waiting for guests. A long streak of water runs down the glass pane at the edge, merging with the vertical lines of the night.
