Buttress Roots in Blue Hour Rainforest Near Kuala Lumpur
Massive, fluted buttress roots rise from the damp forest floor, their dark bark catching a sharp rim of blue light along the upper edges. The wet season has left the wood slick and textured, with deep grooves running vertically down the swollen trunks. From a low vantage point, the roots tower against a backdrop of layered foothills fading into shadow. A perfectly clear sky hangs above, glowing with a deep indigo hue that contrasts with the heavy darkness of the forest below. Moss rests on the crevices of the stone-like roots, while the ground beneath is covered in fallen leaves and scattered debris. The light defines the curve of the wood, leaving the interior of the forest in deep, impenetrable shade. A faint reflection of the twilight sky glimmers on a wet leaf resting against the base of the largest root.
