Boats Locked in Ice Alberta Harbor View
Hard coastal glare bounces off a vast sheet of ice locking dozens of small boats in place. The water has turned into a solid, uneven surface where the vessels sit tilted at various angles, their hulls partially submerged in the frozen mass. Early spring thaw leaves patches of dark, open water along the edges of the harbor, against the white ice. A wind-open causeway stretches across the frame, its gray concrete texture visible beneath a layer of snow. The sky above is a perfectly clear, deep blue, offering no cloud cover to soften the bright afternoon light. Shadows stretch long across the ice, showing the low angle of the sun. The boats, varying in size and color, remain motionless, trapped in the stillness of the harbor. A thin crack in the ice near the center reveals the dark water beneath the frozen crust.
