Boatbuilder Pauses in Mzuzu Workshop During Monsoon

Thick monsoon mist fills the space beneath the corrugated tin roof of the Mzuzu workshop, softening the late afternoon light into a diffuse silver wash. A boatbuilder stands motionless between tasks, his gaze fixed forward with quiet intensity. Reflected light from nearby water spreads across rough timber planks and tools resting on the workbench, showing the grain of the wood and the texture of his worn clothing. The foreground dissolves into a blur of wet leaves and water droplets, creating depth that leads toward the still figure. Dust particles hang suspended in the humid air, catching the pale illumination as the mist blurs the edges of the structure.
