Heavy overcast skies cast a flat, silver glow across the interior of a weathered riverside shed near Melbourne. A boatbuilder leans forward into the diffused dawn light, his posture rigid with disciplined focus. The air hangs thick with early autumn mist that softens the edges of the wooden workbench and scattered tools. Sawdust coats the rough-hewn floorboards, catching the pale illumination. His gaze is fixed and steady, directed toward a curved timber frame resting against the wall. The muted greens of the surrounding foliage seep through gaps in the shed siding, blending with the grey tones of the wet timber. one drop of condensation rests on the edge of a chisel resting on the bench.
