Blue Pink Hydrangeas Moonlit Corridor in among terraced garden plots in Myanmar

Blue Pink Hydrangeas Moonlit Corridor

by Amina Bell

Cold silver moonlight washes over terraced garden plots in Myanmar, illuminating a hydrangea bush split between deep blue and vibrant pink blooms. The dry season leaves the soil cracked and dusty beneath the flowers. A long, narrow corridor stretches behind the plant, lined on both sides by identical wooden doors that offer no depth or rooms behind them, creating a flat, impossible wall of repetition. Dry leaves skitter across the stone path in the predawn darkness, caught in a sudden gust. The blue petals catch the pale light while the pink hues remain in soft shadow. The identical doors recede into the distance with perfect symmetry, their surfaces reflecting the same dull gray tone as the moonlit sky. One leaf rests against the base of the lowest door.
