Blue and Pink Hydrangeas in Copper Light in on a fern-lined forest floor near Tijuana

Blue and Pink Hydrangeas in Copper Light

by Sven Nicholson

Orange low-angle light spills across a fern-lined forest floor near Tijuana, illuminating a hydrangea bush with petals shifting from deep blue to soft pink. Ground fog pools in the hollows between the ferns, catching the copper-toned glow of the pre-dusk hour. The flower heads appear dense and wild, their layered petals catching the fading sun while the surrounding foliage remains in deeper shadow. A shallow depth of field blurs the background into soft greens, keeping the focus on the texture of the wet blooms and the rough stems. The light edge of a single leaf glows amber against the cool blue of the petals.
