Aerial view of braided river meanders

by Elsa Browning

Pale turquoise water splits into intricate channels across a bed of fine, gray glacial silt. The river snakes through the frame in a complex network of meanders, creating geometric patterns against the muted earth tones. A thick mist hangs low over the surface, softening the edges where the water meets the banks. Late-afternoon light reflects off the wet sand, casting a gentle sheen that contrasts with the duller, dry patches of sediment. The water flows in slow, deliberate curves, dividing and rejoining in a rhythmic dance of erosion and deposition. The mist blurs the distant horizon, leaving only the immediate, swirling currents and the textured silt visible in sharp detail.
