Copper-toned light spills across the Pacific as white foam lines stretch parallel to a dark volcanic beach. Below, terraced agricultural fields carve stepped patterns into the steep hillsides near Lima, their green rows wet and heavy with rain. The ocean churns with steady gray swells that crash against the obsidian sand, creating sharp contrast between the dark shore and the bright surf. Rain falls in visible sheets, blurring the horizon where the sky meets the sea. The water reflects the low sun in shimmering orange streaks that cut through the gray drizzle. Dark rocks jut from the breaking waves, anchoring the turbulent water against the smooth, rain-slicked slope of the coastline. At the edge of the frame, the white crest of a wave breaks directly onto the wet black sand.
