Aerial Dawn View of Togo River Plain

Cold silver light spills over a flooded river plain in Togo, turning the landscape into a map of wet earth and water. From directly above, the meandering channels cut dark, sinuous lines through the pale, saturated ground. Light drizzle creates a fine, uniform mist that softens the edges of the vegetation, blurring the boundary between the riverbed and the surrounding fields. The water reflects the overcast sky with a matte sheen, while patches of submerged grass appear as darker, textured islands. The scene displays cartographic clarity, with the geography laid out in sharp, distinct patterns of brown, grey, and muted green. Tiny ripples disturb the surface of the main channel, disrupting the smooth, mirror-like finish of the standing water. A thin layer of vapor hangs low over the water, obscuring the far bank.
