Laos River Delta After Rain Aerial View
by Jessie Hyde
Emerald waterways twist through the lowland floodplains of Laos, their muddy brown paths branching into intricate meanders. Fresh rain has left the vegetation saturated, turning the surrounding forest into a deep, uniform green carpet. Low morning sun stretches long, dark shadows across the topography, defining the gentle ridges and depressions of the land. The sky above holds soft, breaking clouds that allow shafts of light to illuminate specific channels of the river delta. Water reflects the pale blue of the clearing sky, creating a sharp contrast against the dark earth. Tiny islands of dense foliage rise from the flooded plains, breaking the continuous flow of the water. The scene reveals the vast, intricate geometry of the river system spreading out beneath the high vantage point. A narrow ribbon of sunlight cuts across the far bend of the main channel, highlighting the wet texture of the sandbars.
