Abandoned Grain Silo Prairie Sky Noon Light in along a service road lined with pipes near Quartier Latin, Montreal

Abandoned Grain Silo Prairie Sky Noon Light

by Michelle Stafford

Flat noon glare washes over a weathered grain silo standing alone against a pale prairie sky. The structure sits beside a service road where rusted pipes run parallel to the ground. Reflected light bounces off a nearby water surface, casting a shimmering, metallic sheen on the silo's corrugated metal skin. Early spring conditions show bare earth and patches of dormant grass around the foundation. Fine dust hangs suspended in the air, catching the light in distinct shafts that cut through the scene. A low angle view emphasizes the verticality of the tower against the horizon. at the edge is the sharp edge of a rusted pipe bolted to the silo base, gleaming wetly against the dry, dusty ground.
