A cramped artisan workshop in the Oltrarno district glows with the amber spill of a summer evening. A potter’s wheel sits idle, its wheelhead stained with dried clay, while a wooden drawer pull hangs loose on a nearby cabinet. On a cluttered workbench, a single paintbrush rests beside a glass vase holding a few wilting peonies, their petals catching the last light. Through the open doorway, the narrow street buzzes with pedestrians, their silhouettes blurred by the depth of the interior.
