Calipers in Florence at Evening Light

A narrow Florentine alleyway glows under the amber spill of a sodium streetlamp, illuminating a small metalworking shop left open for the evening heat. Inside the dim interior, a workbench holds a pair of brass calipers resting beside a half-finished hammered copper bowl that catches the warm light with irregular, rippled reflections. The rough, cracked stucco of the exterior wall frames the open doorway, against the smooth, polished metal inside. A small electric fan sits on a nearby crate, its blades blurred in motion, stirring the heavy summer air.
