In the foreground, a leatherworker’s open display table is cluttered with the honest debris of craft: a faded brown tool apron hangs loosely from a hook, its pockets bulging with small metal instruments, while a wicker basket sits overturned nearby, spilling scraps of hide. A pair of worn leather slippers rests near the threshold, abandoned by a worker who stepped inside.
