Backstroke Tumble Turn at Nanjing River Dawn

Pale gray mist hangs low over the Yangtze River near Nanjing as dawn breaks. A swimmer executes a backstroke tumble turn against the concrete edge of the riverbank course. Water droplets freeze in mid-air, catching the soft light while scattering from the athlete's shoulders. The body forms a tight arc, muscles taut against the cool water, as sea spray drifts horizontally across the frame from the river's surface. The concrete wall shows faint algae stains near the waterline. Fine ripples expand outward from the turn point, reflecting the muted sky. The swimmer's cap is dark blue, set against the silver sheen of wet skin and the grayish-green river water.
