Window Box in Halifax

A weathered wooden window box sits on the stone sill of a historic Halifax building, catching the flat, even light of noon. The box is filled with dark, moist soil and several small green seedlings that are just beginning to emerge from the earth. Behind the planter, a white painted window frame provides a clean, neutral backdrop that contrasts with the organic texture of the wood. Tiny droplets of water rest on the leaves of the young plants, reflecting the diffuse sky above. The stone sill shows signs of age with slight discoloration and rough edges that add character to the immediate setting.
