Weathered Wooden Window Box in New York
by Ellis Fry
A weathered wooden window box sits flush against the rough brick facade of a lower Manhattan building, catching the flat noon light. The box contains a dense arrangement of succulents and trailing ivy, their green leaves against the reddish-brown mortar joints. Small rusted brackets secure the container to the wall, while a narrow ledge below provides a dark shadowed base. One dried leaf rests on the rim of the box, marking the boundary between the cultivated green and the urban stone.
