Whirling Skirt Motion in Dhaka Prayer Hall
Predawn darkness fills the prayer hall in Sadarghat, Dhaka, broken only by the warm glow of overhead string lights. A dancer in the center wears a voluminous skirt that blurs into a wide, translucent circle of fabric, showing the momentum of a rapid spin. The motion softens the edges of the patterned textile, turning distinct colors into streaks of indigo and rust. Above, dramatic clouds press against the high ceiling, visible through an open section of the structure. The floor reflects the faint, elongated light from the strings. A sharp, dark shadow stretches from the dancer's feet across the smooth stone, at the base of the swirling form in the stillness of the early morning.
