Whirling Dervish Spinning in Blue Evening Light
Deep shadow fills the prayer hall in Cihangir, Istanbul, while the last blue light of evening outlines the spinning figure. A whirling dervish in flowing white robes dominates the right third of the frame, their wide skirt flaring outward in a perfect circle. The fabric appears heavy yet fluid, catching the faint rim light that separates the white cotton from the dark interior. Above, the curved dome creates a vast, empty ceiling that emphasizes the solitude of the movement. Dust motes hang still in the dry air, visible only where the weak light grazes the floor. The white robes contrast sharply against the shadowed stone walls, and at the edge rests on the hem of the skirt touching the floor.
