Water Tower Shadow Over Omdurman Warehouses at Dawn
by Sonia Wong
Low sun strikes the horizon haze, painting the sky in pale ochre and soft gray above the wet season landscape. A massive concrete water tower dominates the left foreground, its cylindrical form casting a deep, elongated shadow that stretches diagonally across a cluster of low, flat-roofed warehouses. The buildings feature weathered brick and corrugated metal surfaces, their textures highlighted by the directional morning light. To the right, the concrete structure of a storm surge barrier runs parallel to the horizon, creating a strong linear boundary. Converging lines from the warehouse roofs and barrier edges guide toward a distant vanishing point, showing the structural monumentality of the infrastructure against the clear, open sky. at the edge is the sharp edge of the shadow cutting across the dusty ground near the barrier base.
