Sunlight cuts sharply across a narrow calli in Venice, illuminating a vendor’s cart where a brass-handled broom leans against a stack of woven wicker baskets. Beside the broom, a simple wooden rolling pin rests on a folded linen cloth, its grain worn smooth by daily use. The ground is damp concrete, slick with morning rain, reflecting the pale winter sky and the bright red awning above. A small brass latch on a nearby shutter catches a glint of hard light, against the matte texture of the wet stone.
