Turquoise Mine Tailings Pond Cyprus

Bright turquoise chemical slurry fills a large industrial pond, its surface shimmering under the harsh late morning sun. Massive steel gantries and concrete utility towers loom overhead, casting deep geometric shadows that slice across the water. Humid air hangs low, softening the distant edges of the landscape where dry autumn vegetation meets the wet ground. The water reflects the pale blue sky and the dark underbellies of the metal structures. Converging lines of the concrete embankments guide the view toward a vanishing point deep in the distance. A rusted metal railing along the near edge shows patches of orange corrosion against the vibrant blue liquid.
