To her left, a potted flowering plant with bright red blooms sits precariously on a chipped concrete ledge, its leaves catching the harsh, shadowless light. A metal boot scraper rests near the entrance, scuffed by countless feet, while the open doorway reveals a glimpse of the busy sidewalk outside, where a customer waits with a plastic bag.
