Under the flat, diffused light of an overcast midday in Mexico City, a street vendor’s cart is densely packed with tools of the trade. A pair of heavy metal tongs rests across the rim of a steaming aluminum pot, while a woven mending basket sits nearby, filled with clean napkins and plastic utensils. The vendor’s hands are busy arranging serving bowls, their movements quick and practiced. In the background, the blurred shapes of pedestrians and colorful storefronts suggest the busy rhythm of the neighborhood.
