Tokay Gecko Calling at Balearic Tidal Inlet Dusk in beside a tidal inlet in the Balearic Islands

Tokay Gecko Calling at Balearic Tidal Inlet Dusk

by Kelsey Garza

Soft, fading twilight washes the stone crevice where a Tokay gecko perches, its textured skin glowing faintly against the damp masonry. Fine raindrops rest on the rough surface of the rock, glistening under the last amber rays of the setting sun. The gecko’s throat puffs slightly as it calls, mouth open in a silent gesture captured in the stillness of early autumn. Behind the creature, the shallow depth of field blurs the darkening water of the tidal inlet, leaving only hints of wet ripples and distant reeds. Droplets slide down the gecko’s scales, catching the low light, while the edge of a nearby shell reflects a sharp, cool highlight against the warm stone.
