Terracotta Pottery Shard in Delhi

A rough terracotta pottery shard rests on a sun-warmed window sill inside a Delhi home during the hot summer evening. The fractured edge catches the last amber light of the day, highlighting the porous texture of the fired clay against the smooth surface. Faint dappled leaf shadows from a nearby neem tree stretch across the plaster wall behind the object, creating a pattern of dark and light. A small brass incense holder sits just inches away, anchoring the shard in its domestic context. One grain of dust settling on the uneven rim of the broken pottery.
