Swiss Chalet Balcony in Tibet Snow Thaw

by Ashley Bradford

Thick mist rests on the lower slopes of a Tibetan valley, softening the edges of a Swiss-style chalet standing in early spring thaw. Carved wooden balconies protrude from the structure, their dark timber against the bright white snow that covers the roof and ground. Late afternoon light breaks through the haze, casting long, soft shadows across the uneven terrain. Patches of brown earth and dormant grass peek through the melting snow near the foundation. The wooden railings show intricate grain patterns and weathering. Snow accumulates heavily on the balcony floor, while icicles hang from the eaves, glistening faintly in the diffused sunlight. A stone path leads directly toward the front door, disappearing into the fog.
