Blizzard Burying Wooden Fence Over Stockholm

Thick white mist fills the air as a blizzard buries a weathered wooden fence in waist-deep snowdrifts. The vertical posts disappear into mounds of snow that rest against the horizontal rails, their gray, splintered surfaces barely visible beneath the accumulation. Above, a horizon of stacked thunderheads looms dark and heavy, their undersides against the bright, diffused light reflecting off the water below. Early spring thaw brings a softness to the landscape, blurring the line between the white ground and the gray sky. The snowdrifts rise in uneven waves, obscuring the base of distant trees and merging with the misty water surface. A small section of dark wood remains exposed at the top rail where the snow has not yet fully settled against the edge.
