Suspended Fruit Over Shipping Crates in Dawn Light
by Joy Dennis
Warm amber light falls through heavy rain-season curtains, casting soft shadows across a geometric arrangement of weathered shipping crates viewed from directly above. The crates form a tight, repeating pattern that nearly dissolves into abstract texture against the dark, vaulted atrium floor. Above this industrial grid, massive, impossible fruits hang suspended from the high ceiling, their smooth skins reflecting the dim morning glow. These giant objects dominate the negative space, creating a playful visual ambiguity between the mundane logistics below and the surreal canopy above. Dust motes float in the shafts of light, highlighting the contrast between the rough wood grain of the crates and the polished, oversized surfaces of the floating produce. at the edge is the sharp, dark edge where the nearest crate meets the shadow of a hanging fruit.
