Surreal Welding Sparks Under Bridge in Frozen North

Bright orange sparks cascade downward from a welding torch held by a figure on a steel construction platform beneath a bridge. The environment is a taped-off excavation zone in the Northwest Territories, where the ground is covered in white snow and gray ice. A thick fog softens the background while the late morning light remains flat and diffuse. The sky is a pale, dark gray, indicating the polar night. A heavy steel wall, positioned to block the excavation, instead opens into a rectangular portal revealing churning open ocean water. Waves crash against the interior of the steel frame, defying the frozen landscape. The metal surfaces of the bridge show rust and grit. Converging lines of the steel beams lead toward the impossible ocean doorway where water meets snow.
