Snow and Sun in Brasilia Welding Bay Skylights
Soft overcast light falls through a single row of skylights into a vast industrial welding bay near Brasilia. The concrete floor is split down the middle by an impossible weather divide. On the left, fresh snow blankets heavy steel beams and piles of grit, while the right side basks in bright, sharp sunshine that glints off polished metal surfaces. Lamplight settles into the far corners, casting deep pools of warmth against the cold white drifts. Dust motes hang suspended in the sunlit air, against the silent, drifting flakes on the shadowed side. The low angle emphasizes the towering machinery and the stark, impossible boundary where winter meets summer on the factory floor. A puddle of melted snow reflects the harsh sunlight on the dividing line.
