Meteor Streaking Over Colombian Night Sky in beneath a moon-washed horizon in Colombia

Meteor Streaking Over Colombian Night Sky

by Maria Bailey

A brilliant white line cuts diagonally across a deep indigo sky, leaving a faint, fading trail of ionized gas. Below, the silhouette of the Andes rises sharply against the horizon, its ridges softened by the low angle of moonlight filtering through scattered clouds. The ground is dark and textured with autumn vegetation, where small patches of dry grass catch the faint starlight. The air appears crisp and clear, allowing the distant stars to shine with intense clarity. A warm, orange glow from a distant fire flickers at the bottom edge, casting a soft, upward illumination on the nearest rocks. The contrast between the cold blue of the atmosphere and the warm firelight creates a sharp visual boundary at the foreground. One ember floats upward from the fire pit, glowing briefly before vanishing into the darkness.
