Flat noon light strikes the wet concrete of a substation yard near Puerto Barrios, where recent rain leaves dark patches on the gray ground. Beside a rusted water tower ladder, heavy engineering scale dominates the view through massive metal structures and warning rails. Heat shimmer rises in visible waves from sun-struck surfaces, distorting the air above the equipment. The sky remains a pale, washed-out white against the industrial forms. Fine droplets rest on the sharp edges of the metal framework, reflecting the harsh glare. One bolt head catches the light at the base of a support beam.
