Stone Arch Over Barley Field at Dawn in beneath a broken stone arch in New South Wales

Stone Arch Over Barley Field at Dawn

by Bryce Warren

Grey stone blocks form a crumbling archway framing a golden barley field under a pale, misty sky. Fine rain creates a soft sheen on the weathered masonry, highlighting the rough texture of the aged rock. Green and yellow stalks bend slightly under the weight of the drizzle, stretching toward the horizon where the light remains diffuse and cool. Dark crows perch on the broken lintel and scattered stones, their black feathers against the wet grey surface. Vines creep along the base of the arch, weaving through the dry earth. Mist softens the edges of the distant landscape, blurring the boundary between the stone and the sky. at the edge is a droplet of water hanging from the tip of a broken stone, trembling before falling.
