Sandstone Arch Over Flooded Australian Meadow in across a floodplain after rain in Australia

Sandstone Arch Over Flooded Australian Meadow

by Zoey Stevens

Soft overcast light washes the landscape in even, diffused tones, eliminating harsh shadows across the expansive floodplain. A massive sandstone arch rises from the waterlogged ground, its weathered surface displaying layers of ochre and rust-red hues. The arch frames a pool of stagnant water where the meadow has been submerged by recent rains. Mist rests on the low-lying grass, creating a white haze that obscures the base of the rock formation and drifts across the wet surface. Green reeds poke through the brownish floodwater, their tips heavy with moisture. The stone texture appears rough and eroded, against the smooth, glassy surface of the submerged meadow. A faint shadow falls across the inner curve of the arch, highlighting the depth of the opening against the pale sky.
