Smoking Volcanic Vent in Snowfield Above Cusco
by Brock Hughes
Tropical bright light floods a high-altitude snowfield where a dark volcanic vent releases a steady column of white smoke. The ground is a patchwork of white snow and exposed dark rock, contrasting sharply with the vibrant blue sky above. Below the vent, terraced hillsides of the Cusco region stretch into the distance, their geometric agricultural patterns visible despite the distance. A thick layer of ground fog fills the valleys beneath, creating a soft white sea that obscures the lower terrain. The snow surface shows texture from wind and melting, while the smoke drifts slowly to the right, caught in the late-afternoon breeze. Shadows from the uneven rock formations fall across the pristine white surface, showing the rugged topography. A small patch of exposed earth near the vent glows orange from the heat, marking the source of the plume.
