Silhouetted Sea Stack in Icelandic Storm Light in across a floodplain after rain in Iceland

Silhouetted Sea Stack in Icelandic Storm Light

by Renee Osborne

Vivid orange firelight from the midnight sun spills across a wet floodplain, illuminating the heavy drizzle falling through the air. A jagged sea stack rises from the dark water, its rough basalt texture rendered as a deep, solid silhouette against the glowing horizon. The ground reflects the intense warmth, turning the rain-slicked surface into a sheet of burning copper. Low clouds hang heavy and grey above the rock, catching the last rays of the sun. The water ripples gently around the base of the stack, mirroring the fiery sky above. one drop of water slides down the vertical face of the stone, catching a brief glint of the orange light before disappearing into the shadow below.
