Wind whips through tall, golden-brown grasses that dominate the foreground, their blades bending sharply under the force of the breeze. A metal pipeline marker stands in stark silhouette against the fading evening sky, its shape defined by the backlight. The ground slopes gently toward a massive concrete storm surge barrier in the distance, its gray surface catching the last light of day. The grass textures are rough and dry, typical of peak autumn in Rio Grande do Sul. The marker casts a long, thin shadow that stretches across the uneven terrain, ending abruptly where the grass meets the hard concrete base of the barrier. The sky above is a gradient of deep orange fading into slate gray.
