Banana Bunches in West Bengal Rainy Forest in on a fern-lined forest floor in West Bengal

Banana Bunches in West Bengal Rainy Forest

by Camden Estrada

Soft, diffused morning light falls through a canopy of ferns lining the damp forest floor of West Bengal. Large, broad banana leaves create a textured green carpet, while heavy bunches of unripe fruit hang low from the stalks. A thin layer of light fog rests on the ground, softening the edges of the ferns and blurring the background into a wash of emerald and grey. Droplets of rain water rest on the waxy surfaces of the leaves, catching the pale glow of the early sun. The shallow depth of field isolates the central fruit cluster, revealing the intricate ridges of the bananas against the blurred, misty undergrowth. One droplet slides slowly down a leaf edge.
