Silhouetted Chanterelles in Winter Normandy Forest
Brilliant late-afternoon sunlight pierces the canopy, rendering a cluster of chanterelle mushrooms as stark, dark silhouettes against the glare. The caps appear almost black, their ruffled edges defined only by the intense backlight. Surrounding the fungi, the forest floor is a thick carpet of dormant, grey-green moss that has survived the dead of winter. Low-hanging dust particles float in the heavy, tropical-bright beams, creating visible shafts of light that cut through the cool, dormant air. The ground looks uneven and textured, covered in fallen leaves and twigs. The mushrooms stand clustered together, their forms sharp and jagged against the luminous background, showing the wild, untamed nature of the Normandy woodland floor. A thin strand of spider silk catches the light near the base of the nearest mushroom stem.
