Warm candlelight glows against the cool predawn darkness, illuminating a figure silhouetted against the stage backdrop. The musician stands in profile, bow raised mid-stroke on a fiddle, their form dark against the soft haze. Behind them, thick curtains hang in heavy folds while tangled cables snake across the floor and stage equipment. The cool season air settles over the wooden floorboards, visible in the stillness of the dust motes dancing in the light beams. Stage haze lingers near the floor, softening the edges of the backdrop. One reflection of the candle flame shimmers on the polished surface of the fiddle's varnished wood.
