Amber firelight washes the wooden stage floor, cutting through thick stage haze that hangs low in the air. A musician sits cross-legged, his dark loose garment merging with the shadows behind him. The polished curves of the oud reflect the flickering source, creating sharp highlights against the matte grain of the instrument. His hands rest on the fretboard, fingers positioned over the strings. Behind the performer, the deep recesses of the theater architecture fade into absolute darkness, leaving only the illuminated circle visible. The light reflects off the polished curves of the oud, ending abruptly at the edge of the illuminated circle.
