Piper on Bursa Theater Stage in Predawn Sleet
by Leah Ritter
Cold moonlight falls through suspended stage haze, illuminating a lone piper standing on a raised wooden platform. The performer wears a traditional kilt and dark coat, holding bagpipes with fingers positioned on the chanter. Fine sleet streaks diagonally across the foreground, catching the pale light and creating a texture of sharp, white lines against the dark stage floor. Behind the musician, heavy velvet curtains in deep crimson hang in soft folds, their texture visible despite the low light. The low angle emphasizes the height of the piper against the vast, shadowed ceiling of the theater. Dust motes swirl within the beams of light, while the sleet settles on the performer's shoulders and the polished wood beneath their boots. The scene remains still, with no visible movement other than the falling precipitation and drifting particles.
