Shipwright Caulking Hull Seams in Medan Harbor
Bright midmorning light reflects off the harbor water, illuminating a shipwright working along the edge of a wooden hull. The worker packs thick oakum into the seams between dark, weathered planks using a heavy mallet. A fine mist of light drizzle hangs in the air, creating a shimmering veil over the wet timber and the worker's protective clothing. The wide panoramic view shows the expanse of the harbor, with the ship's curved side dominating the foreground. Raindrops bead on the oakum and slide down the vertical grain of the wood. The cool season air settles on the salt-sprayed surface, visible in the sheen covering the tools and the deck.
