Shielding Pottery in Marrakech

Rain-slicked cobblestones in the Medina reflect the amber glow of a nearby lantern as a merchant shields a stack of speckled stoneware glaze pots with a translucent plastic sheet. The ceramic surfaces catch the diffused twilight, their textured finishes against the smooth, wet stone beneath. A brass carafe stopper rests precariously on the edge of a wooden crate, catching a single bead of condensation that merges with the falling rain. In the background, the blurred silhouette of a spindle chair leans against a painted doorframe, its turned wood grain visible despite the low light.
