Rwanda Wind Farm Service Road Early Morning in along a dam spillway in Rwanda

Rwanda Wind Farm Service Road Early Morning

by Yolanda Melendez

Pale morning haze settles over a gravel service road running parallel to a concrete dam spillway in Rwanda. Massive steel wind turbine towers rise steeply into the sky, their blades rotating slowly against a washed-out white sky. Heat shimmer distorts the air just above the sun-baked ground, creating a wavering texture on the dirt path. Thick suspension cables anchor the structures to the earth, gleaming with a dull metallic sheen under the soft light. Green monsoon vegetation rests on the spillway embankments, against the grey concrete and rust-colored gravel. The low angle emphasizes the towering scale of the machinery, making the road appear as a narrow ribbon beneath the turning giants. A faint shadow from a nearby support strut falls across the dusty road surface.
