Rusted Coke Oven Battery Silhouette in Polish Ruin in along a vine-choked corridor in Poland

Rusted Coke Oven Battery Silhouette in Polish Ruin

by Dustin Jefferson

Vines climb the jagged brickwork of a forsaken coke oven battery, their green leaves filtering late morning light into shifting dappled patterns. The structure stands dark and heavy, its doors permanently rusted open like hollow eyes staring into the clearing sky. Wet surfaces glisten where recent rain has receded, highlighting the rough texture of oxidized metal and crumbling mortar. The silhouetted mass contrasts sharply against the bright, washed-out sky, creating a stark outline of industrial decay. Moss rests on the lower courses, while the upper arches remain bare and skeletal. at the edge is one drop of water sliding from a rusted hinge onto the damp earth below.
